Plasticus humanimalia, 2021–2023

This sculpture shows the skeleton of a member of the fictional species Plasticus humanimalia.

 

Deformed by the repeated ingestion of plastic, its body has gradually grown heavier, losing both its upright posture and its limbs.

 

Through the transparent resin appear the remnants of our era: fragments of packaging, credit cards and an iPhone in place of the brain.

 

Each bone was cast in silicone and resin, like the fossilised trace of a humanity turned synthetic.
