Mona Young-eun Kim develops an interdisciplinary practice that bridges sculpture, new technologies, and immersive installations. Drawing from philosophical inquiry and science fiction, her work proposes speculative hypotheses about the near future, questioning our perception of public space and emerging forms of humanity.
Her projects explore the mutations of contemporary society, from the erasure of advertising signs (Doublage) to the dystopian hybridization of humans and synthetic matter (Plasticus humanimalia). In the film La croyance est synthétique(2025), she integrates artificial intelligence into her creative process to investigate the emergence of a new cognitive regime, in which artificially generated entities increasingly replace knowledge and belief. Through irony and critical distance, her work sketches playful yet unsettling trajectories toward an uncertain future.
Holding degrees in philosophy, cinema, and fine arts, her path has taken her from Seoul to Paris through numerous international residencies, including the Cité internationale des arts, Gaîté Lyrique, and Casino Display. Her works are part of public collections, notably the Frac Île-de-France.
